How to Shape Beautiful Eyes
Bring out the beauty of your eyes by learning the basics of color contouring. In general, light shades bring features forward visually; dark shades make them recede. Here's how to use light and dark shades together for maximum impact:
Close-set eyes: To make them look further apart, stick to light shades of shadow, and concentrate color on the outer two thirds of lid (avoid the inner corner). Line eyes from the mid-point out; apply mascara to outer lashes only.
Wide-set eyes: Give them dimension with matte shadows in deep neutral tones, concentrating color on the inner third of lid. Apply eye-liner, broadening the line at the inner eye corner. Follow with mascara.
Deep-set eyes: Bring them out with a light, neutral shade from lash line to brow; add a slightly darker shade above the crease. Line with an eye pencil and smudge to soften (heavy liner makes eyes recede). Finish with two coats of mascara.
Round eyes: Shape them with a lighter shadow on lid, a darker shade in the crease. Line top and bottom lids, extending the line slightly at outer corners. Add mascara to top lashes only, concentrating on outer lashes.
Small eyes: For an instant eye opening, curl lashes with an eyelash curler; brush brows up. Apply a light-toned shadow to lid; add a darker shade at the outer edge and blend. Line top and bottom lids (the outer third only) and extend the line slightly. Sweep on mascara, adding extra to outer lashes.
