How to Winter-proof Your Skin
With cold weather here, it's time to re-think your daily skin care regimen. Even if your skin is on the oily side, you may need to switch to less-drying products.
Wash your face with warm water and a gentle, non-drying cleanser, such as Avon's ANEW Perfect Cleanser. Avoid hot water, which can rob skin of moisture. Follow with an alcohol-free toner, such as Avon's ANEW Clarifying Essence, to re-energize skin without drying it.
Moisturizer is a must during the winter months. Try Avon's ANEW Advanced All-in-One Self-Adjusting Perfecting Creme or Lotion -- "smart" formulas that moisturize and exfoliate only where your skin needs it. To lock in moisture, apply while skin is still damp.
How to Banish Blemishes
The right skin care routine can help you deal with acme before it deals with you. Show your skin who's boss by following these three steps:
Cleanse:Keep your skin super-clean but don't over-dry it (it can cause further flare-ups). Find a cleanser that works with your skin type, and use it morning and night. To control oiliness and blemishes, try Avon's Clearskin Medicated Gel Wash. It gently washes away oil and bacteria, and leaves skin feeling clean, cool and refreshed.
Prevent:Help your skin stay in the clear with deep cleansing products such as Avon's Clearskin Extra Strength Cleansing Pads or Astringent Lotion Extra Strength. Both contain salicylic acid, an acne-fighting agent, to help stop new blemishes from developing.
Treat:Zap blemishes with Avon's Clearskin Targeted Blemish Remover. It treats acne breakouts without overdrying the surrounding skin by creating a gel "patch" over blemishes to lock in acne-fighting medicine while you sleep.
How to choose and apply blush
Blush should make you gently glow, the way you do after an invigorating workout. Avon's TRUE COLOR Powder Blush-formulated with an ultra-fine "milled" powder-glides on silky smooth and contains special light-reflecting pigments for a luminous look.
Blush should go on the apples of your cheeks; they're easy to pinpoint when you smile.
Blush shouldn't go: closer to your nose than directly beneath the iris of your eye; below nostril-level; into your hairline. A big blush brush, tapered for precision placement, is a help.
How to apply blush to flatter facial shape
Don't try to "contour" your face with darker and lighter shades of blush; that's "pro" territory. Simply apply regular blush with your face shape in mind.
On a round face, place blush from the center of your cheek, out along the ridge of your cheekbone, blending upward towards your temples. Dot some on your chin, too.
On a square face, use minimal blush placed on the lower apple of your cheek. Don't sweep it upwards or to the side.
On a narrow face, blush goes at the outer point of your cheekbone. Don't sweep it upwards; keep it horizontal.
